‘Birds in the sky’ is a room full of paper origami birds, folded by hand. The birds represent the stork in the logo of the municipality of The Hague. As a little joke the stork is also sometimes called a heron. In this room a mixture of bright colored herons and storks are filling the sky. This room is designed by Studio Barbara Vos. The walls, floor, chairs and table are totally white so the bright birds get all the attention they deserve.
The City Hall is a beautiful white structure. The employees working inside were missing a personal touch, a bit of color, a connection with the building. Their wishes were combined in designs called ‘the experimental garden’. These experimental designs also helped the employees to develop another working ethos. Some rooms were emptied, no chairs or tables anymore, but blocks to sit or lean on. This resulted into a more dynamic work sphere, which evolved into creating more dynamic policy plans.
